This dark original artwork was a 2nd commission for a very good customer, to accompany her first original "DEAD TREES HINZE DAM"
Dedicated to the dead gum trees at Hinze Dam, Advancetown.
This 2nd commission I aimed to concentrate on the aesthetic of the trees.
Traditionally, gum trees have a super cool pattern on the trunks, but these one, whilst dead, have a more "stylised" type of pattern.
I wanted to capture that in this abstract landscape and therefore, I focused on just one tree situated at the front.
I like to refer to him as the King Tree with all his other family and friends standing proudly behind him. I know this isn't correct, by any means, but this is how I like to think about it.
This artwork was much larger that the initial one and my client has affixed them a wall in her home in such a way as to really showcase the King Tree with the initial artwork lower on the wall to almost simulate the trees in their formation. It looks surreal.
I'm so very happy with how these 2 artworks came out and to respect my client's wishes, no scans were done and therefore, no prints will ever be made available.
I can be commissioned to do this same style again, but although they may be similar, they will never actually be exactly like these pair.
